Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park is a California state park located in Napa County between St. Helena and Calistoga. The park is the site of a water-powered grist mill that was built in 1846 is one of only two water-driven mills remaining west of the Mississippi River.

Located in the heart of the beautiful Napa Valley wine country, the Park offers camping, picnicking, swimming, and hiking trails that go through stands of coastal redwoods as well as forests of Douglas-fir, tanoak, and madrone. Daytime visitors, bring your wine and cheese and picnic under the towering Douglas Firs.

The shop, which lives in an old white barn one blocks east of Highway 29 behind The Charter Oak restaurant, has been selling oil, salumi, cheeses, and a variety of imported Italian foods since the 1930s. Today the place is quite literally jam-packed with provisions for an epic Italian feast.

A visit to the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum is a unique opportunity to experience the largest collection of Stevensoniana on public display in the world. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 12-4 pm.

The first St. Helena Farmers Market was held Main Street, across from the Merryvale Winery. It moved to its current location at Crane Park in 1996, where it continues to operate every Friday morning from May through October.
